About Us
The Somali Minority Women and Children Development Organization (SMWCDO) is a local non-governmental organization (LNGO) established in 2003 in Galkayo District, Puntland, Somalia. SMWCDO is committed to implementing multi-sectoral projects aimed at advocating for and improving the lives of minority and marginalized groups, particularly women and children. Our thematic areas include advocacy, education, vocational training, protection, livelihood programs, and humanitarian interventions.
SMWCDO was founded by a group of dynamic women dedicated to alleviating the suffering of women, children, and youth from minority communities. The organization aims to combat the gender disparities and marginalization faced by these groups in accessing education, employment, and essential services.
Our Vision
To create an equal society free from any form of marginalization, where all community members enjoy equal rights, recognition, and access to basic services, with the capacity to participate in governance and development as bona fide Somali citizens.
Our Mission
To enhance access to basic social services, improve livelihoods, and champion the rights of marginalized minorities, women, children, and youth, thereby improving their social, economic, and political status.
Position Overview
We are seeking motivated and experienced individuals for the following positions:
Job Description
- Oversee the implementation of the Protection and Advocacy for Minority Women and Children program.
- Develop program strategies and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including community members, government agencies, and NGOs.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation for program activities and outcomes.
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops for staff and community members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in project management or coordination.
- Strong knowledge of issues facing minority women and children.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in English and Somali; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
